Roots & Wings Community School is a free Public Charter
School located in Lama, New Mexico. We offer an innovative,
experiental education design model in a wilderness setting,
for 21 students in grades 6-8. RWCS
is affiliated with Expeditionary Learning
Outward Bound (ELOB), a nationally acclaimed school reform
program that involves over one hundred public schools across
America.
 At
RWCS, academics are taught through
interdisciplinary, hands-on Learning
Expeditions that revolve around central themes. We incorporate
single and multi-day field study trips that are relevant to
classroom material.
Our unique curriculum blends structured classroom
time with fun and educational outdoor adventure, and offers
students opportunities to develop leadership and cooperative
skils, critical thinking, and a positive self-image.
